About The Augerton Digest

The news, in minutes.

The Augerton Digest is a news digest. Three times a day, at 7 a.m., 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Eastern, we publish an edition of the most important U.S. and world stories, each summarized in a few sentences and linked to the reporting it comes from. The free edition is ten stories you can read in about five minutes. The full edition goes deeper, with about thirty.

No photos, no videos, no clutter. Just the news, in words.

How we work

Our small team sets the standards. AI does the heavy lifting. We use models from Anthropic, OpenAI and Google to read, summarize and check the reporting behind every edition. Every summary is drawn only from published reporting, checked against it, and linked to it, so you can always read the original. When a story can't be told accurately, we leave it out.

We don't do original reporting. When we say something happened, it's because the outlets we link to reported it, and we say who reported it. Our summaries are a quick way into the news, not a replacement for the journalism behind it.

How we verify summaries

For each story, we gather the published articles that report it, and a checker confirms that they support the story before it can be included. Stories reported by several independent outlets rank higher than those reported by one.

Each summary is written from those articles only, then reviewed by a second model against them. Just before an edition is published, each summary is checked again against the latest articles: a sentence that turns out outdated or disputed is corrected, credited to its source, or removed, and a story whose main point can no longer be confirmed is left out. Headlines are checked to make sure every name and figure in them appears in the reporting.

Every story page links to all the articles it was drawn from and shows the checker's note on why they support it. These checks catch most errors, not all of them. When we get something wrong, we correct it (below).

Our standards

Accuracy and attribution come before speed. We keep the difference between what was alleged, denied, confirmed and officially said, and when outlets disagree, we say so rather than picking one.

Corrections

If you spot an error, email editor@augerton.com. We correct it on the story page and say what changed.

Free and Premium

The editions on this site are free. You can get them by email: the morning, afternoon, or evening edition, or any mix. Premium is coming: join the waitlist.

Who we are
