Privacy
Our promise
We never sell or rent information about our readers, and we use it only to run The Augerton Digest.
What we collect
- If you subscribe to the newsletter or join the Premium waitlist: your email address, the editions you chose, whether you're on the waitlist, the kind of page you signed up on, where your visit came from (for example our post on X, or a search engine), the wording you agreed to, and when you signed up, confirmed, or unsubscribed. You're added only after you click the link in our confirmation email.
- If you create an account: your email address and your subscription status. You sign in with a one-time link we email you; there's no password to store.
- If you buy a subscription: payment is handled by our payment processor. We never see or store your card number.
- If you use the feedback buttons: your answers, and the story or edition they're about.
- If you follow a link we post or email: we count the click, by link and day (for example "our X post's first story, 12 clicks on Thursday"), and nothing about who clicked: no IP address, no cookie, nothing stored in your browser.
Cookies and similar technologies
- Your browser's storage: your light or dark theme and your feedback answers are saved in your browser's local storage, so pages remember them. They're cleared when you clear your browser's site data.
- Sign-in: if you have an account, a cookie keeps you signed in.
- Testing and measurement: we may test versions of pages (for example two layouts) and count how they're read, using cookies or similar storage.
- Advertising: free pages and newsletters may carry advertising. Ad networks such as Google may use cookies to show ads, limit repeats, and measure results.
- Where the law requires it, for example in the EU and UK, we ask for your consent before setting cookies that aren't needed for the site to work.
Who processes it for us
Our pages, list, and emails are hosted by Amazon Web Services, which also sends our emails. Cloudflare counts visits without cookies and checks that our signup forms are used by people, not bots. Payment processors and ad networks, if used, act under their own privacy policies.
What our hosting sees
Like every website, our hosting receives technical details of each request, such as your IP address, browser type, and the page asked for, to deliver pages and protect the site.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe with the one-click link in every email, or change how many editions you get with the link beside it.
- Ask us to delete what we hold about you by emailing editor@augerton.com.
- Clear your browser's site data to remove what's stored there.
Links to other sites
Every story links to the publishers whose reporting it summarizes; their privacy policies apply there.
Children
The Augerton Digest is a general news service, not directed at children under 13.

When we change how we handle information, we update this page and its date.
