More context

Kenya has recorded its second Ebola death, the health ministry said Friday. The patient, a 65-year-old woman and close relative of the first case, was the country’s third confirmed case. The first case was a man who had travelled from the Democratic Republic of Congo and died at a Nairobi hospital on October 5. The woman developed symptoms on October 13 while in quarantine and later received supportive care at an infectious disease unit in Nairobi. The ministry said she died Friday evening and that medical personnel had done everything possible to save her. Authorities placed all 135 traced contacts in quarantine and confirmed nine cases, including the two deaths. Seven other patients were receiving treatment at two isolation facilities. The ministry said all cases formed one cluster, with no signs of community spread.
