More context

Borr Drilling’s Prospector 5 rig sank late Saturday, Oct. 24, off Mayumba, Gabon, leaving one worker dead and four missing among 115 people aboard. Sylvain Mayabi Binet, secretary general of the National Organization of Petroleum Employees, said the deceased was an Indian national. The missing are three Gabonese nationals and one other expatriate. The rig was contracted to support BW Energy’s drilling operations but had not yet started drilling. Gabon’s Ministry of Petroleum and Gas activated a crisis unit, ordered the navy to reinforce search-and-rescue efforts and called for a technical investigation into the accident.

Reporting

Verifier’s note

gCaptain and Bénin Web TV directly report the rig sinking with one dead and four missing, and The FINANCIAL’s headline reports the same claim. Internazionale reports an earlier status of five unaccounted for, not the updated casualty count.
