More context

A Swiss woman being treated for Ebola in Nigeria was medically evacuated to Switzerland with her husband on Monday, officials said. The Ugandan-born Swiss citizen, wife of a Swiss diplomat based in Abuja, was Nigeria’s first case in the current outbreak. Nigerian Health Minister Muhammad Pate said she left Abuja early Monday with his approval and was stable, conscious and able to communicate; he warned that she could still be infectious. The World Health Organization’s regional director for Africa, Mohamed Janabi, said Nigerian medical teams had stabilized her. Switzerland’s Federal Office of Public Health said she was being treated at Geneva University Hospital, while her husband, a close contact, was in isolation at Zurich University Hospital. The agency said there was no risk to the Swiss public. Janabi said Nigeria was monitoring 52 contacts and had no current Ebola cases.
