More context

ICE agent Mario Alberto Morales, charged with aggravated assault after a Houston crash, will turn himself in Monday, his attorney said. A Harris County grand jury indicted Morales on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge stemming from a crash on Clay Road. Morales’ defense attorney, Lindenmuth, called it an accident, not a crime, saying a man fled a lawful detention and Morales had to swerve to avoid hitting a vehicle head-on. The man, identified as Parra Hernandez, told deputies that Morales “threw the car” at him, according to a Harris County Sheriff’s Office incident report reviewed by The Associated Press. The report also says Morales told deputies he did not brake before hitting the man, but did not intentionally strike him.

Verifier’s note

PBS NewsHour reports that Morales’s attorney said he would turn himself in Monday, and FOX 26 Houston independently confirms the same claim. ABC30’s X post and PBS NewsHour’s Facebook post also state the claim, but do not establish separate independent reporting.
