More context

Authorities released a 78-second recording Tuesday of a 911 call from Kaylub Giamanco, a 36-year-old father who fatally shot the 16-year-old gunman at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, on Oct. 15. As the shooting unfolded, Giamanco told the dispatcher, “I have a gun, and I will shoot them right now if I have to.” He said his daughters were inside the school. The dispatcher repeatedly asked where the emergency was and told Giamanco not to do anything while she got an officer there. Giamanco replied, “I’m about to go kill this kid,” and said the shooter was entering the building. The gunman killed three children, ages 5, 8 and 11, and a 25-year-old teacher. Giamanco’s daughters survived.
